I am looking for an upper elementary (Grades 4-6) class that is willing to use skype and webcam to be reading buddies with students in my Kindergarten Class. My students would read to your students and your class could have a read-aloud time with my students through use of skype. Please let me know if you are interested. We are located in Raleigh NC in the US. Thanks!

I would really like to work with your school on this project. Please let me know a time we could meet to discuss times our students could work together. Thanks.

I would love to do this with my class. I am a year 6 teacher in the UK and am studying for an MA in new technologies. I have been trialling many forms of social networking and have recently joined flat classroom. The children I teach are 11 years old. Would the accent present a problem? I think that an international collaboration might prove interesting but I can understand that Kindergarten children might be confused by an English accent. Let me know if you think it could work.
Hi Rachel. I would like to work with your class too! We have a similar background. This is my 7th year as a teacher and I am working on my MAED in instructional technology.
I don't think that the accent would be a problem at all. My main goal is to give my students practice reading with an audience to build their reading fluency. It will also help them develop global awareness. It think it is really important that they know not everyone talks just like they do.
I think that when your students would read to our students, they could be reading things that teach them about your culture and your schools. Maybe your students could even come up with a project and create some books that tell about your school day so we could compare. Let me know what you think of these ideas.
Thanks.

Sadie,
I have a 4th grade teacher who is very interested. Our school is located in England, and this is what she said,
"Last lesson on a Tuesday 2:30 - 3:00 our time (930 am-10am there time) would be good (or same time on Fridays but not every week). Tell her I used to work in Roxboro - about 15 miles from Raleigh.

Hello, my name is Jennifer Mahan and I teach 6th grade Language Arts in Clinton, Oklahoma. We currently do Reading Buddies with our Kindergarteners here so I think that this would be an awesome project for my kids to undertake. I am waiting for a new laptop with a built in web cam. Maybe we could talk through email and get some things lined up so that when it finally does come we will be ready to go!
Hi I teach in a 4-6 classroom in NJ. Our students have reading buddies with our Prek-K classes and love the sharing. They would love to work with your class if possible.
