Transforming learning through global collaboration

Nerine Chalmers

Request for students to respond to a survey.

Qatar Academy Primary School, Doha, is a PYP school. Students in Grade 5 have as their field of investigation for the PYP Exhibition the essential understanding and belief that

“ A balance of work and recreation contributes to the well being of our community.”

Some of the students are interested in creating a survey, and getting responses from students in different parts of the world, as well as from students living in countries facing upheaval and challenge. If students at your school would be interested in responding, please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Nerine
If it is not too late, I would like to get our Grade 5s to respond to your survey! It is a topic particularly dear to my own heart! Our students finished their exhibition about two weeks ago.

Thanks very much, Wayne. The students will be setting up the survey this week. Could you send me your email address - mine is nchalmers@qf.org.qa. I look forward to the contact. Do you have anything online about your students' exhibition?

Hi Wayne

The students have created their survey using Survey Monkey -

If you have any trouble accessing it, please let me know. They have asked whether 20 grade 5 students could answer it. (boys and girls) They also need a copy of a sample weekly timetable of lessons that includes pe, music, art periods etc

Thank you very much for your interest.

Kind regards

Another group of students came to see me today, and asked whether I could post their survey too. Do you have students who would be willing to answer it? Their central idea is If a community is imbalanced, it can affect the well-being of the people in it, and they are looking at vandalism.

Thanks very much.

Kind regards

Nerine

Hi Wayne
I have just had an email from the first group's mentor, saying that the students have adjusted their survey. If possible, could you ask your students to look at this newer version. I do apologise for the inconvenience, and if they have already done the first one, not to worry. Thanks very much. Kind regards Nerine

Nerine, I am pleased to see you have made a connection with my new school next year, BISS, via Wayne, the Head of PS there. Have I also shared with you the PYP Threads Ning started by Kathy Epps in Europe?

Yes, I was doubly pleased when I realised that you will be at BISS! I am looking forward to having the Gr 5 students collaborate with Wayne's students. The PYP Threads Ning is also a great resource. I have posted a similar request there.
