Office hours were so unpopular they have been discontinued.
Carmen, Sorry if I added you to the wrong calendar or invited the incorrect email address. It should have sent you an invitation to edit.
Comment by Carmen Restrepo on September 27, 2012 at 8:47am Sorry, but I still cannot access the Google calendar to add when my students are in class. I'm referring to the calendar below. My gmail is carmenrestrepo3@gmail.com Here is a screen shot of the what is shown to me.

Comment by Carmen Restrepo on September 24, 2012 at 9:45pm Thank you Julie. I understand the different handshake options depending on what works with our class. I also understand that creating multimedia is a separate aspect of the project. Our district is well versed in creating mutimedia projects. Here is a glimpse of the work our students produce.

Carmen - now I'm confused - the synchronous meetup which I am tying together or the project intros about which Theresa speaks? In any case, you have the technology!
Interesting and important conversation here about what a 'handshake' is. A handshake between students and/or teachers can be as simple as a blog post, or it can be a video or animoto or voki. It does not matter, it depends on the tools you have available. It is essentially a reaching out via an introduction, and then others responding via confirmation (eg response to uploaded video or blog post) that they have read it...hence the handshake. Do not get this confused with a need to create multimedia.
Also, Lisa has been organising real-time handhsakes in Blackboard Collaborate. These are also important, if you can make it work for your class, but they are once again not an essential requirement of the project.
I hope this clarifies this a little.
