I feel the same in terms of time. We are just getting into the deeper part of the work and understanding the process. My students are asking for an extension of time to work with their peers in other schools, but I have to rush them to an action project as it is the end of the semester.

As before, I would suggest an earlier start date if at all possible.

Otherwise, the process is great! My students are asking for more, more and more.

Tomorrow I'm having each person contribute something to the Wiki, and then we will start planning action projects.  I watched the recording of last week's meeting and Vicki's comments really inspired me.  I can't wait to brainstorm with each of my classes!

I agree with Julie - thanks for letting us know.  Do what you can with your class.  Some classes meet every day, some once a week.  You do what your students and yourself are capable of doing.  We're here if you need us, too!

Hi Mitzi, thanks for the update. One reason why our projects span 8-12 or even 14 weeks is to account for school interruptions. Keep going! Let us know how we can support.

Hi all.  My class is far behind the others, I realize, because once we tackled the technical difficulties of getting the sites unblocked, we were deep into one project and then we had to complete another interdisciplinary project that involved all their teachers.  When we completed that, we traveled out of state with all 120 freshmen for a week, and then we had a week off for Thanksgiving.  This week we are going to contribute to the wiki and plan our action projects.  Three of my classes have done meet-ups this semester, and a handful of them did an after-hours meetup with schools in China and Singapore from their homes late at night.  They really liked seeing the handshakes on the Ning of their group partners--in particular, they liked the ones done with Animoto (they asked, "Can we do that, too?")

Project Managers and Lead Teachers!

I see so much great activity, wonderful handshakes, and great connections going on in all the projects.  I wonder if each of you could do me a favor?  Write a "What's going on in [Name of your project] this week" for me - just a paragraph or two.  This would be fantastic!  Maybe you could say how many countries are represented, what are the favorite handshake tools, the learnings of the week.  I would like to gather these paragraphs from you and post online in our public spaces?  Please post to our teachers' ning in a blog post with the tag flatclass_connections

All Teachers,

Please disseminate this crucial information and bring it up at your respective teacher meetings and in your classrooms.  There is a wiki glitch!  Vicki has identified a glitch when a participant is attempting to join a wiki using an iPad.  The join me button does not appear on iPads, so for now all iPad users need to be invited by email and this WILL work..so they will need to be invited to both the wiki #1 (to our gated community) and to the project wiki.  Please share this information with all your teachers as soon as possible.
