If you are requesting a summit, please do two things: 1) Fill out your classtimes on the Digiteen calendar or the Digitween calendar 2) Fill out the Summit Request Form

Thanks!

Meeting #8 Summary

Students need to focus on editing the wiki, adding content summaries and multimedia (pictures, video, graphs, etc).  They should contribute to the wiki discussions on their section and help serve as peer editors for content on their wiki section. They should also start thinking about what they will do and who they will work with on their local action project.  Teachers need to monitor student work on the wiki.  Encourage them to add content directly on the wiki.  Spelling and editing can be done later and is a collaborative effort with others in their group.  You may also wish to help students having trouble with their topic by giving prompts in the wiki discussion groups.  Start organizing students into their action project groups.

.

  1. Listen to the meeting we had Thursday night:  Meeting recording

  2. View the slides from the meeting

  3. Plan a meetup with another school if time allows.  Emailing your colleagues in the group to setup a Skype or Google Handout can be exciting for your students.

  4. An online roundtable discussion, hosted by Marilina, about Technology in Learning will be held May 14-17 if you are interested in attending.

  5. Students should be editing their section of Digiteen/tween wiki pages and letting their partners know on the discussion posts.  The meeting slides gives example links.

  6. Start preparing for action projects - many schools are finished around the end of May. Links to previous action projects are found on the slides from the meeting.

Many classes are hard at work on the Digiteen wiki this week!  I'm also seeing some of them adding to the discussion posts - great!  Keep up the wonderful work!

Today:  RBS, SAM, PK12
Monday:  CISM
You can look at the latest changes here:  http://digiteen13-1.flatclassroomproject.org/wiki/changes?o=60&....
Please remind your students to keep the font the same and the same size.  That helps in consistency.  Any student can fix this - just don't delete their work!

Rebecca,

Have a great vacation and thanks for the update.  If your students have any questions while they work next week, you can have them ask me on the Ning or however it's easy for them.

Comment by Rebecca Calzini on April 12, 2013 at 11:06am

Hello,

Similar to Tammy's students, my students have begun researching their topics and will summarize soon.  As they find specific information, they are posting it on the Wiki.

My school is on vacation next week (T-2 hours and 13 minutes...:)  If they are around, I am encouraging them to continue their work.

After break, we will be putting in all of our classtime to getting research completed and posted and the action project brainstormed and formulated.  These are goals which will be completed by the 26th.

Rebecca

Great to hear, Tammy!  Thanks for the update.

Hi Everyone,

My students have been researching their topics and will be working out a summary of their research results and posting messages containing that result summary to their group by Wednesday 4/17.  Then they'll be adding these to their wiki on Thursday.  We'll also be putting together a tentative plan for their action project during the week.

Digiteen Meeting #7 Summary

Since only Barbara and Karyn were able to make the meeting, it’s important if you could send Helen or I an email update or send it through the google group.  If we don’t hear from you in a few days, we’ll contact you.  We’d like to know how it’s going and if you have any questions.

  1. Listen to the short meeting we had last night:  Meeting recording

  2. View the slides from the meeting

  3. Remember the 5 Steps to Internet Safety when you or students encounter inappropriate online behavior or situations:

    1. Stop

    2. Screenshot

    3. Block

    4. Tell

    5. Share

  4. Students should be adding their information on the wiki pages and letting their partners know on the discussion posts.  The recording gives good examples.

  5. Start preparing for action projects - many schools are finished around the end of May.
