Deisging and Pitching your global projects

NEW!!Post-course Survey and Feedback - please complete this to help us improve this course. We value your feedback!

Hi everyone

On November 27 we have our last online meeting for the course: Module 10: Putting it all Together. At that meeting you can 'pitch' your ideas and design for feedback from your peers. After that you are invited to present your global project designs during a FLATs global presentation. I am organising dates and times for the FLATs now - please respond to Timebridge invitations this week.

Don't forget to finish the Handshake design task, and keep working on the FC 15 challenges and journal work.

Older messages
Don't forget ALL essential questions for each Module are posted on this Ning. Please add your responses and converse with others on this network.

Just to let you know the Flat Classroom Project for Teachers should be finished (or nearly). Make sure you add a link to your personal video in the new column I created on the wiki. I look forward to watching the videos and reading your blog post reflections.

Still my computer isn't allowing me to comment below videos (grgrgr). I've just watched Barb's video. I love Sara and the use of handwriting to introduce the parts: the mix works nicely. The video shows how to easily create and use a PLE and more importantly it highlights that you can learn at every moment from various sources.

My computer does not seem to be liking me to comment below the videos. I've just watched Yvonne's video and love her Top 10 uses for her mobile device. It really shows how a smartphone is becoming a vital piece of our lives. I highly recommended.

Office hours were so unpopular they have been discontinued.

In an effort to answer questions for any project teacher, I have scheduled myself for virtual drop-in office hours every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  This means during 4:00pm to 4:40pm EDT (New York time), I will be at http://tinyurl.com/Drop-In-Office-Hours and I invite any project teacher with questions, confusions, and those in need of clarification to drop in and ask.  Please bring your headset so you can talk and be heard.  I will likely only do this for the first two weeks of beginning projects, which means until mid October.

I am in my 15th year as an elementary teacher. This is my 2nd time around in teaching.  I taught for a year and half, left the profession, worked for 17 years in the legal profession, got tired of that, and returned to teaching with the support of my husband.

I have two adult children.  My daughter just graduated from college, is living at home hoping to leave and working 3 jobs.  My son is in his first year of law school in another state.  My husband and I hope to rest but then I started this course.  I'm loving it but Starbucks is going to know very well by the end!

  • I am in my 16th year at Southern Methodist University teaching graduate and undergraduate pre-service teachers
  • I have taught pre-school (phew), middle school (love those kids), and high school (love teaching this age too!)
  • I am married - our daughter just got married in June and our son has just come back to us after college and is looking for a job!
  • I strive to model for my students what I hope they will do in their own teaching
  • I am already learning so much from this course and continually realize just how much I have to learn!

  • I am a 3rd grade teacher in Sammamish, Washington.
  • My own babies are 1 (this summer) and 3.5.  They make it tough for me to return to school this week.
  • We all love to travel and are planning a trip to India this December to see my husband's family.  It is a much closer trip to visit my side of the family on a wheat farm and pear orchard in Oregon.
  • I am excited to be involved in the flat classroom course and projects!

  • I am starting my third year of teaching high school this Sept. (Math, Interdisciplinary studies) and looking forward to incoporating global collaboration into my courses!
  • I live on a dairy farm, and often spend time off helping around the barn
  • I have recently discovered a love of mountain biking

Thanks Julie.

  • I am starting my third year as a K-12 literacy coach in a district that has not yet recognized 21st century learning.
  • I am half way through a masters in literacy.
  • I have three grown kids (really is there such a thing); two of whom are packing up to leave for school as I write.
  • I miss the classroom and the energy and idealism and hope that young learners bring everyday.
  • I am not as old as my birth certificate says I am.
