Hi Everyone,

Structuring opportunities for pre-service teachers (PST) to connect globally is certainly a very important component to their overall path toward certification. It seems that so many PSTs have limited experiences in their field classroom experiences. Methods I've used to extend the PST out to the world is having them join Internet projects while they are in classrooms with mentor teachers. This past October, three of my students became very involved in the Monster Project. This connected them with schools/teachers around the world for the first time. It gave me the opportunity to scaffold new situations for them. They were writing project based learning lesson plans for activities of the project including skyping and sharing with Russia, CT, LA, etc. Mainly, it gave the PST a rich set of events from which to create learning experiences for their students while extending their own learning communities and horizons as new teachers.
