Hello Mamunul
I teach in the Primary School of Qatar Academy, Doha. In October, the Grade 2 classes will be beginning the unit “Living here, living there.” The unit involves comparing aspects of life in other countries with life in Qatar. This year the teachers have decided to focus on the countries which are home to many of our expatriate labourers and general workers. There are 5 Grade 2 classes with 22 students in each. The countries they are studying are: India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
We would very much like to set up a collaborative relationship with a school in each of these countries. I realize that you are teaching in the high school, but I wondered if there may be an older class who would be happy to connect and share information about their country with younger students. It could be a wiki in which the students share information on the countries they are living in; they could use voicethread with photographs to share information, annotated photographs on flickr.....or it could be communication via email. Once we have identified classes with whom we can work, we can look at the details.
If you know of a teacher in Bangladesh who might be interested, please contact me. Thanks very much.
Hello! I am new to flat classrooms. Please visit my member page to learn a bit about me. I have had for several years a non profit called Global Visits which has linked students in the US in projects with students and their instructors in the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa. Our web site has just been transformed this summer into a social networking site, and we are very excited! Please visit us at www.globalvisits.com, become a member and get involved with your students. And, please visit with me!
