Hi, Sharon!
I am Deb Morton. I work as a teacher/librarian at Pagosa Springs High School. We are a small school in a beautiful mountain town in Colorado.
Presently, I am taking an online class thru PBS TeacherLine called, "Communicate & Collaborate Online". I'm learning a lot about Web 2.0 I did not know before.
I agree with you....we need to make the leap and become a paperless education system. The amount of paper wasted on a daily basis is HUGE! It makes me sick. I hope I can learn wha… Continue

Hello Flat Classrooms Participants,
We are looking to make connections with other PYP schools in other countries who would be willing to video students talking about different aspects of their lives, such as sports, food, holidays, clothes, etc. We could upload all of our cultural aspects on either blogspot or wikispaces to share with the other PYP schools. We would like to start beginning in December. We would love for your school to participate. Let us know if you are interested. Continue

Hi,
Hello everyone, my name is Sharon Padget and I teach at Ottumwa High School in Ottumwa Iowa. I am asking for your help in moving my school forward into the 21st century and using Web 2.0 applications. You see, my school has many wonderful teachers that are afraid or are not seeing technology as an asset to their classroom instead of something to be feared. I am moving to a paperless classroom, using notebooks, using smartboards and many other pieces of technology and feel the rest of the st… Continue

Today I offered the opportunity to a class of Year 7s to be part of the Eracism project.
An interesting learning experience for several reasons
1. Having to 'sell' the idea to students who did not know me (me being new to the school) showed how much more difficult it is when you don't have the personal 'capital' to call on. This led to:
2. The challenge of 'selling' a new project when not sure of time-line, work demand etc. Hope my efforts to appear confident didn't come over as too false
3. Eve… Continue

I have been fortunate to be a part of the Hong Kong flatclassroom workshop at the 21st Century Learning at Hong Kong conference, when not involved in other activities. Again, it is fascinating to hear the students mixed with others from a range of cultures and backgrounds, working in teams collaboratively - with students they did not know before yesterday.
At times, they listen to the conference keynote addresses, but at other times they focu… Continue
