Transforming learning through global collaboration
Third times a charm - First time, I saved a draft and can't figure out where one goes back to get the doc to edit. 2nd, lost power, 3rd, well, here we go.
What: I have learned that being connected is going to require some effort on my part to stay focused. One thing I've learned is that there are layers, upon layers, upon layers of places one can go. I find myself connecting to some of the sites mentioned in the chapter and from there find something interesting and go to that, and so on. I also learned that I have two ning accounts - must have been that focusing issue!
I read some of the blog posts dealing with "connect and reflect" One person mentioned Powerful Learning Practice - and I found some interesting information on PBL - I'm implementing PBL in my graduate course this semester, so this is of interest to me - also found out there's a fee - other things on the site, however, are free.
Classroom 2.0 is another site. I saw Julie's post about Flat Classrooms. Global education and connectivity seems to be its focus. I had heard of Classroom 2.0, just hadn't gotten to the site yet, so it was good to look it over.
So what: So, it helps to see all these folks connecting and provides a lot of possibilities
Now what: To take that first step!

Comment by Lisette Casey on August 27, 2012 at 10:06pm Hi Barbara,
One of the things I love about technology is the patience and persistence we need to have. A friend of mine passed this video to me about teachers integrating technology. It's not really about that, but if you view the father and daughter as two teachers approaching the practice of technology integration it shows not everyone has the same experiences, but if we're willing to try - we'll get it. I love the father and how he let's go during round 2.
Comment by Julie Balen on August 26, 2012 at 5:17pm I received an email about the PLP conference. Philadelphia is a bit of a drive for me, unfortunately. I do like Classroom 2.0, and I hope to connect some of my teachers to their webinars. Has anyone listened to the TeacherCast.net podcasts? I have them on iTunes, but I have not had a minute to spare for them this summer!
Barbara, your connected journey has begun in earnest! I am excited for you. Yes, many hours can be taken up each day.....the challenge is to find the balance and learn where your time is best spent. PLP and Classroom 2 are amongst the BEST places to learn more and find others to connect with.
Comment by Caroline Black on August 25, 2012 at 8:36am Hey, I started my blog too and saved a draft - You can get it back by going to the "Edit Blog Posts" link at the top of your blog page. It took me a while to find out where my draft went as well!
