Hello Nerine: It is not too late for next semester. NOw would be the ideal time for people to meet, share ideas and plan a project for next semester. Would that be possible?

Hello Nerine,
Your project sounds good. My six grade students would be share the project idea with your students or we have a partner school they teach one-five grade level. If you want I can invite that school to participate this project.
I agree. I totally want to keep talking, but our kids are going to need more time to before they're ready to jump in too. Maybe later on in the year would work better for us too!!

That's just fine. Let me know when you are ready to start and we'll start slow. We have a lot of groundwork to lay here before we can move forward also; but let's be sure to stay connected.

Hello Nerine: your project sounds ambitious and exciting. At this point, I do not have schools to refer. Our points of contact are mainly higher ed, with some also at high school level.
I see you were in Botswana. What a wonderful country. We lived in southern Africa for eleven years: Lesotho for seven years, South Africa for four. I consider southern Africa my second home, and miss it dearly. We visited Botswana several times, mostly in our land rover to trek about in Chobe and the Okavango.
Your project sounds great! The message via the PYP Group is a good start to attract participation however can I suggest you also add a blog post to this Ning so that we can all see what your needs are.
Also, we have 4 members from Bangladesh, if you search members you will find this http://flatclassrooms.ning.com/profiles/members/?q=bangladesh
I have been in contact with Eather Newaz and suggest you contact her about your project.
Good luck!
Hey Nerine. I looked at Lisa's wiki. Looks great and I totally agree. Looks like a good match for us to join in. I see Lisa is fine with us jumping in as well, so that is probably a good place to start. I'm still playing around with the Voicethread idea for having our kids pick their favorite authors and comment about them too. Hope your year is starting good too. So far mine's good- the kids are great and I got new computers and a new smartboard. I've got technology fever right now!! :)
Hello Nerine,
Here is the post I left for Kim. I am excited about working with students outside of our Minnesota boundries:
We have two sections of 4th graders - each approx. 20 students each. That number will change a bit before school begins here on Sept. 2nd. I like the project theme of favorite author, book and the use of Voicethread. Let's do this.
There is a lot of work to be done on my end as our school is new to Web 2.0 tools and the idea of posting anything on the Web. Lots of parent/student/administrative work to be done.
I am willing to try whatever best connects our students. We'll learn together.
Hey there. We have 5 sections of 4th graders about the same size, so that would work out nicely if we wanted to pair a class to class. If Sharleen would like to do a couple of classes, and I do a couple that would be ok too. I think doing something in October for Library Month is a good idea. Maybe we could give each student an author to share about (which we compile onto a Voicethread) and then have them record comments about the author and/or their favorite book by that author. Would your kids be able to speak English or would language be an issue? (sorry if that's a silly question- this is very new and exciting to me) What time zone are you in? Voicethread wouldn't matter, however if we wanted to try to teleconference via Skype I doubt we could coordinate that part. We could make a video and I could skype it to you and let you show your kids and vice versa to introduce each other.
With our younger students we might want to consider using VoiceThread. This wiki created by Steve Muth, co-founder of VoiceThread, and Colette Cassinelli, a technology teacher collects examples of VoiceThreads. I haven't looked at many of the examples yet but this could be a good resource.
Absolutely!! Sounds like fun- we do alot of author studies so that would work out. What did you have in mind? I'm kimwren1 on twitter and skype, or you can email me at kimwren1@gmail.com.
Hi Purti,
That sounds great! I know the festival of "Makar Sankranti" is coming soon and we are very excited to learn about it. Will it be possible for you to take pictures or videos of the kites flying, and also some pictures of your students with…

What years were you in Botswana?

I would love for everyone to add to the classroombooktalk wiki. Please feel free.

I've emailed your letter to some teachers here in Baku. One is from Indin and may have some contacts for you. The other teaches Grade 2.
